Our
son Cody was 4 years old the first time he met Mr. Fargen. He
hid behind me and would not even say hello. When we went to the
first class he cried and would not go out on the floor. Mr. Fargen
suggested for us to sit and watch the class. We went back the
next day to sit and watch another class. Half way through the
class Mr. Fargen came over and asked him if he wanted to join
the class. He is 9 now and is a very self confident, polite and
well-disciplined child. We always get compliments on his attitude
and behavior from his school teachers. We will never regret getting
him involved in Karate America. We have a great child and Mr.
Fargen has been a great influence on him. He wants to go to college
and become a teacher like Mr. Fargen.

Tracey and Dan Mielke
We
became involved with Karate America 4 years ago when my son, Alex
(age 4), and I started together. We watched our son grow from
a shy little boy into a confident and poised Black Belt. He has
gained a positive attitude and a strong base of life skills. Our
daughter Maggie started in 2004 when she turned 4 and Karate helped
her with her focus, balance and self-control. My husband also
started in 2004 with our daughter. Karate give us as a family
something we can share and do together, but also strive to reach
our own personal goals as martial artists.
Gosz Family
Our
family has learned much more than self-defense from Shawn Fargen
and his staff at Karate America Greenville. Mr. Fargen has provided
us with direction and a path to reach our fullest potential as
individuals and as a family. Along that path we have learned self-discipline,
commitment and focus. Also, values such as responsibility, courtesy,
and respect have been reinforced. We have enjoyed all aspects
of our journey, but the best is the time you spend with your family,
the great friends you make, and the fun you have along the way.
Spoehr Family
While
I didn’t begin my formal martial arts training until later
in life, like many, I have long had an interest in the seemingly
mystical feats performed by martial artists. Like many kids, I
watched with awe as David Carradine portrayed Kwai Chang Caine
in the TV series, “Kung Fu” back in the 1970’s.
Fortunately for me, my long time interest has become a real life
pursuit that I am able to enjoy with my family (all five of us
are involved in programs at Karate America – Greenville).
I am thankful
for the opportunity to practice and learn this discipline that
is both practical (self defense, confidence) and healthy (aerobic,
strength, flexibility, endurance). Karate has had a significant
positive impact on all of the members of my family, young and
not as young alike… Our kids have progressed significantly
in their strength, flexibility and coordination. Their behavior
has improved as a result of the discipline and positive influence
from instructors and fellow martial artists. Four of us recently
earned our first degree black belts and are working on earning
our second degree belts. My only regret is that I didn’t
start sooner, yet I am pleased to be able to offer my children
an opportunity that I did not have at their age.
The program at Karate America is well suited for people of all
ages and abilities. The school, instructors and fellow students
are helpful and encouraging. Mr. Fargen’s expectation for
each student is to become the best martial artists that he or
she can be. Mr. Fargen and the rest of the staff at Karate America
– Greenville are there to help students every step of the
way.
